Common Ground Outreach / Weekly News / February 14th, 2016
Today, the Board of Common Ground Outreach had a bi-monthly meeting in which we discussed a wide range of topics including web development, fund raising and training opportunities. We also talked about new ideas for bridging the divide between people in prison and people on the outside who want to be resources. The fact is that we still incarcerate a huge number of citizens in the United States and many of those people are housed in prisons for profit which is a reality that hearkens a whole host of ideological concerns. Common Ground Outreach has created new precedents for relationships with convicts based on the principles of restoration and compassion.
Another major topic today was the value of Arts in the building of community. Our Board members Tim White and Kyle Johnson had a great conversation about bringing new images and content to our website and Facebook pages. Tim also gave an exciting report on several projects he’s sponsoring in Duluth.
The Board is also looking at a number of initiatives in the community that we endorse and with which we are considering a cooperative involvement. More on that soon.
