Today I spoke at a Quaker Meeting. My thoughts were about dealing with grief. For many people life is bitterly disappointing. Dreams are lost and to go on we have re-invent ourselves and find a new North Star. Our history as humans has darkness and light / we have both within us. My message was that a way to overcome grief is to find meaning in service / mine is to Christ and the message of divine restoration / personal renaissance / freedom from the ways of hate. In our groups and in my relationships with other outreach workers the bonds of love are long and deep, and they empower us to take on the sorrows of everyday life. If we keep building these connections, a new family is born / one that provides safety, understanding and acceptance; it’s a new Beacon on the Hill. The Bible said that Jesus was acquainted with grief… a Man of Sorrows… but the Healer of the human heart. Would that we all can walk in that path.
